Downloads
Download species tables, occurrence datasets and sequence alignments from the Melastomataceae World Database.
What can be downloaded
- Species table — accepted name, authorship, genus, distribution, occurrence count, elevation range and data coverage flags.
- Occurrence dataset — the records behind the distribution maps, in Darwin Core Archive format for direct ingestion elsewhere.
- Sequence index — GenBank accessions with locus, length and the species they were submitted under.
- Literature index — the curated bibliography with DOIs, suitable for reference management software.
Licensing and attribution
Our curated compilations are released under CC BY 4.0. The underlying records are not ours to license: occurrence data remains subject to the licence of the GBIF dataset it came from, and sequence data remains subject to NCBI terms. Attribute the original dataset for any record you reuse, not merely this platform.
Before you download
Read the known limits of the data on the methodology page. Occurrence counts reflect collection effort, elevation ranges are indicative, and sequence coverage is uneven across the family. Downloads carry no warranty of completeness — verify anything critical against the primary source.
Where the data comes from
Accepted names and authorship are reconciled against Plants of the World Online (Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew) and Tropicos (Missouri Botanical Garden). Occurrence records come from GBIF. DNA sequences come from NCBI GenBank. Conservation assessments come from the IUCN Red List, and publication metadata from Crossref. Every record keeps its original identifier so it can be traced back to the dataset it came from.
